J. R. R Tolkien's works / The Hobbit / Re: There and back again...

I love the animated Hobbit. As far as Holms playing the part, once Bilbo finds the ring he doesn't age anymore so he could be played by Holms. He would almost have to be for it to play into the Lord of the Rings

The Lord of the Rings (Films) / The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King / Re: Your favourite scene

I have two favorite scenes. (I'm allowed to do that seeing as how I'm the dark lord and all, bending the rules to suit me). The other one appeared on the expanded version of ROTK. It was the final tally of the dead contest by Gimli and Legolas. The dwarf is sitting on a dead orc that is twitching a bit. The Prince of Mirkwood knocks an arrow and fires it at the twitching orc, claiming he won by that act. When the Son of Gloin corrects him, Legolas says, "He was twitching." "Only because my axe is embedded in his skull," Gloin replies, gripping the axe handle and jerking it up and down. Even though it was at the expense of my own soldier, it was hillarious.

The Lord of the Rings (Films) / The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King / Re: soldiers of gondor suck!

Okay. Here is the real reason the soldiers sucked. they had a weak leader in Denethor for so long. He was a weak spineless thing who grew weaker at the loss of his beloved son, Boromir. In the face of fear, his cowardice eeked out to his troops. Only when Mithrandir arrived on the scene did things turn around, but by then the enemy was on the doorstep. Also, Gondor had already suffered heavy losses.

J. R. R Tolkien's works / The Silmarillion / Re: The Silmarillion

I have not been able to read much of the Silmarillion, but from what I have read, it feels like a history book with more telling the story as fact rather than showing a scene as in a story. It is interesting.
