Not so long ago I've finished reading The Hobbit (ofcourse it wasn't my first time). Despite the fact, that I'm not a child and I've read this book before, it realy took me in.
Tolkien had specific gift, and when you are reading his books (mainly Hobbit and Lord of the Rings) you can feel this. At the beginning you're meeting peacefull place, without problems, but then it starts. History become an adventure, and adventure become even a thrill in some moments. The atmosphere is growing during each page of this epic masterpiece.

Now I'm waiting to forget again the plot and I will start as soon as possible then :]

I used to read the Hobbit to death, which I perhaps shouldn't have done, as I rarely read it these days and can't generally get into it. So for now I'm leaving it enough time, giving it a decent gap before I pick it up again.

On a slightly separate note, there's definite talk of a film being made, directed by Peter Jackson of the Hobbit. If it does happen, I'd really like to see Ian McKellan back as Gandalf. It'd be good to see Ian Holmes as Bilbo, like he was in the Lord of the Rings films, though in my opinion he might look a little too old for the younger version of Bilbo. Who knows. Time will tell.

I've heard about that 'Let the Hobbit happen' and I hope it will be done in next 3 years; and ofcourse it should contain actors from LotR.

And it should be much closer to original than LotR :]

Due to the sheer amount of content that the Lord of the Rings trilogy had, I'd say it'd be much easier for them to keep the Hobbit closer to the books than they could before.

Oh, and they could easily get Andy Serkiss back to do Gollum.

ian holmes as bilbo would work as they had a small clip of him finding the ring in one of the films (FotR i think)

yes
but they filmed that aprox. 8 years ago:]

anyway, still Ian Holmes would be perfect for that role

That was done under a heavy amount of cosmetics. And yes, it was also eight years ago, so he's even older now. I mean, somebody who's 76 playing a hobbit about 50 years old, also having to take into consideration that halflings age more slowly than humans...

So... I wouldn't say perfect for the role. He'd be good, but I think it'd be too difficult. But then, I'd certainly not complain if he did do it.

Also, I realised it's Ian Holm (not Holmes) :p My mistake

I haven't and I doubt I ever will. I'm not too interested in it for some reason.

I've seen, and it was so funny to watch that cartoon ;p
maybe because is made like for children (so authors made this in the same way as Tolkien made Hobbit) - a lot of singing etc, similar to animated version of LotR, but lil bit better graphics

Alright guys, you are too old for that stuff:P
